“Power In The Name”
Acts 4:16-20
16 “What are we going to do with these men?” they asked. “Everyone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign, and we cannot deny it.
17 But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them to speak no longer to anyone in this name.”
18 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
19 But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!
20 As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
This scripture is taken from the story of Peter and John before the Sanhedrin. Peter has just healed the cripple beggar at the gate Beautiful. Now they are in trouble with the Synagogue Leadership because of using the name of Jesus.
The response Peter gives them in verses 19-20 are the most recognized verses in this chapter. The questions for you today are; What have you seen and heard? Who is trying to keep you quiet? Will they succeed in shutting you up, or will you proclaim like Peter “we can't help but speak about what we've seen and heard”?
Speak up Immanuel. You have a great story to tell the world. Talk it up and let God do the rest.
In His Name,
Bro. Andrew
