“Faith”
Romans 1:16 - 17
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed —a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
Paul writes here about his conviction and truth about righteousness and faith. My dictionary-concordance in my bible gives this definition of faith: “Belief and trust in God: knowing that God is real, even though we can’t see him”. In Hebrews 11:1 the Bible says: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see”. Both definitions point to two aspects that make up faith; belief and trust in something we can’t physically see. (i.e. God)
The Centurion acted on what he believed and trusted Jesus could do for his servant even though he could see Jesus. Blessed are they who never see but believe. (John 20:29)
