Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Matthew 28:18

Obedience 101
Jonah 2: 7-10

7 “When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, LORD, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple.

8 “Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them.

9 “But I, with shouts of grateful praise, I will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good.  I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the LORD.’”

10 “And the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.“

Jonah has a great story of deliverance to tell. No matter how far you may have run from God, you can't get away from Him; His love and mercy will be with us to the very depths our sin takes us.  Even though Jonah was running away, God was right there with him. If Jonah had just done what God ask him to do the first time, none of this would have happened to him.

When God gives you a task to do, do it; not to escape calamity, but to be a blessing to many people like Jonah finally was. By being obedient, he rescued an entire city from destruction.  Your obedience to God really does matter.

Heeding the Call,

Bro. Andrew
